Biography
Andrey Klimkovsky was born in 1969 in Moscow.
At the age of 7, in parallel with studying at a comprehensive school, Andrei began to attend a music school. But some time later, the focus of his interests shifted towards the science of stars - astronomy, and the future composer left music and continued his optional studies at the Moscow Planetarium at astronomical courses for schoolchildren, intending to become a scientist.
The time spent in the Planetarium brought him back to music - the works of Bach, sounding under the dome of the Star House on Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya street, made a strong impression on the teenager - he had never before encountered the greatness of the optical illusion of the appearance of electric stars in the artificial sky, accompanied by the deepest musical works.
The return to music was also supported by Andrey's fellow students, among whom there were musically educated amateurs of astronomy. And together they created something similar to a musical group, which even received the name «Alrado», which in translation from Esperanto means «Direct ray». Together, the friends composed instrumental compositions and songs of space themes, which they performed under the dome of the Moscow Planetarium or on an astronomical garden for a community of unanimous boys and girls in love with the sky.
The years of study at the Moscow Planetarium passed, and Andrey Klimkovsky continued to move in the scientific direction, entering the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. But with the collapse of the USSR, scientific prospects seemed illusory to him. And Andrey once again returns to music.
It took several years to create his own studio and gain professional experience, before in 1997 the composer released his first studio album «Music of Celestial Spheres», which immediately attracted attention of many fans of electronic and instrumental music. Brightness of images and catchy melodies became the musician's style.
However, science did not stand aside. Each subsequent album of the musical cycle «Music of Celestial Spheres» also had an astronomical component - it was devoted to a certain celestial body or a scientific phenomenon, was accompanied by a small informative article, and the composer's concerts turned into lectures on the stars, with a demonstration of popular science videos accompanied by a live performance of musical works.
It is not surprising that the most ambitious concerts of Andrey Klimkovsky took place again in the Moscow Planetarium - after its opening in a completely new look. These were technically very complex performances combining live music, full dome space projections and quadraphonic surround sound. In addition to synthesizers at such concerts of Andrey Klimkovsky, you can hear the live guitar of Yulia Lomanova, the bright ethnic vocals of Olga Zemlyanika and the experimental special effects of Igor Kolesnikov.
To date, Andrey Klimkovsky's discography echo file_get_contentss more than 40 studio albums. The composer conducts several musical cycles in parallel and periodically participates in experimental projects jointly with other musicians. Andrey Klimkovsky paid special attention to the creative association NEANE Records, created by the composer to support like-minded musicians and artists. Most of Andrey Klimkovsky's albums were released under the logo of this label.
In his free time from music, the musician writes articles on astronomy, photographs the sky, for which he regularly visits the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory, participates in marathon races. All this gives him inspiration to create new pieces of music.
