Description

150 years ago, the German astronomer and mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius performed a unique experiment: he glued a narrow strip of paper into a ring, first flipping the ends halfway. The result was a remarkable construction: the strip of paper had only one surface. We all know that a sheet of paper has two surfaces, and it's impossible to move from one side to the other without lifting a pencil or pen.

If you write or draw on the Möbius strip, you can color it all without lifting your pen. The same applies to the edge of the strip—the Möbius strip also has only one edge.

«Möbius Strip» — this unusual studio concert took place on November 25, 2007. Andrey Klimkovsky and Igor Kolesnikov focused on synchronizing two workstations — a Korg TRITON Classic and a Korg TRITON Extreme — which resulted in the creation of complex, multilayered rhythmic structures that constantly transform and evolve into new pulsations. These complex rhythms inspired the musicians to perform vibrant solos and invent intriguing special effects.

Over an hour and a half of bold experimental music was conceived, played, and recorded in a single day, without rehearsals or preparation. Seven tracks from this unique session were included on the second album by Andrey Klimkovsky and Igor Kolesnikov's project, «K-KVADRAT», but the eighth track simply couldn't fit on a single CD. It will definitely appear on the project's third album, «New Horizons», which is expected to be released very soon.
